Mitch Egli was the hero for the East Hants Penguins on Friday morning when he beat Kensington Vipers goalie Logan Reid just 38 seconds into the extra frame to lift his team to a 3-2 victory. Matt Fortune and Tommy McCelland had the Penguins goals in regulation while Brett Hogan and Mitch Gallant replied for the Vipers. Melvin Day made 23 saves in picking up his third consecutive win, while Reid stopped 19 shots for the Vipers who fall to 2-2 and cement themselves in third place heading into the playoffs.

 

The Penguins will face the Host St.John's Caps at 7:30 this evening to determine first place in a battle of 3-0 teams. The loser of that game will take on the Vipers on Saturday, while the winner will face the upcoming battle between 0-3 teams. The Mt.Pearl Blades and Moncton Vito's set to start at 3:00.

The Mt. Pearl Blades were shutout for a second consecutive game as the Kensigton Vipers scored seven unanswered goals to move into a temporary tie atop the leader board at 2-0 with the Host Caps. 

The Moncton Vito's and East Hants Penguins have just finished their warmup and are preparing to do battle in the second game of the day. 

Due to a temporary site error stats from previous game can not be uploaded. This issue should be fixed soon and full stats should be up to date by the end of the day.

Nova Scotia's East Hants Penguins had no problem winning their first game of he tournament as they defeated the Mt. Pearl Blades 9-0 in the second game of the day. It was the second loss in as many games for the Blades who drop to 0-2. The shots were 55-35 in favor of the Penguins.

The opening ceremonies will commence at 7:00 this evening and will be followed by a 7:30 game between the host St. John's Caps and the Moncton Vito's
